This needs to be done every couple of months so you will need to keep on top of the software and keep up with the security updates too. It won't cost you anything to update but you will need to keep up with the monthly fee.

Sometimes your hardware may not work with the WiFi. This will mean that you will not be able to connect to your network or will have a lot of problems. In order to resolve this problem, it is a good idea to go and test your networking on a LAN.

Lastly, the PFSenseNUC only works with the network adapter that comes with the computer. This means that if you have a notebook, you cannot use it. If you have a desktop then this will not be an issue though as you will be able to make use of the Wi-Fi adapter that comes with it.
